Father's Day Week...

As I'm sure you are aware, Father's Day Week is fast approaching.  It begins on June 20th and ends...   well, it never really ends...

So, you are probably asking yourself (if you happen to be one of my kids - or I guess even if you're not and just want to send me a gift), what would my Dad like for Father's Day Week?

Well today is your lucky day.  Without further ado, here is the list:

1. Wallet (something leatherish, brown or black only - no "Star Wars" or "Hello Kitty", please).
2. Cover for my IPod Touch (something manly, but no spikes/skulls - also no "Hello Kitty").
3. Little Speaker for my IPod Touch. (Something that just plugs in to the headphone jack and doesn't require external power.  I'm looking for something I can listen to in the back yard....).

I don't want anyone to feel obligated to purchase a gift for me.  Don't let the thousands of hours of personal sacrifice, the endless hours reading you books, all the practices, music concerts, science fairs, ball games, etc. affect you in any way.  I'd hate to think that you got me anything because you felt guilty...

Thanks for your attention to this matter (and remember - no "Hello Kitty").

That is all.

Travel Trailer news and Erin goes to Shocker Fitness...

Back to work today (started off rainy, but the sun came out late in the afternoon which made for a nice last half of the day).

We had a call last night from someone who wanted to look at the travel trailer:

Turned out to be a lady who came all the way from Meade, Kansas (about three hours west of here).  She met Dad at 9:00 and he said that she really liked it.  I haven't heard back from them yet, but we are hopeful.

Erin went with us to Shocker Fitness tonight.  She did great (way better than Cindy and I did our first night).   I took Erin by the new house on the way home (she hadn't seen it yet).  We peeked in the windows and looked at the back yard.

Then it was on to Tony's Tacos for supper.

Good day...

The Purple Chair...

Cindy and I woke up around 8:00 on Saturday and went for a jog along the river.  Then we ran some errands to the library, the Credit Union (followed by lunch at Godfathers, naturally), then to Best Buy.  They were having garage sales all over the Delano district and so we decided to stop at a few on a whim.

Several hours and $150 later, we had a puzzle table:

some tile and a sink from Mexico (we forgot to get a picture of the sink before we put it in storage - but it is all hand painted by somebody's Margie).   We also got another interesting little table with some broken legs that we are hoping Mr. Brill can repair.

Originally Cindy had passed on the sink even though the Hispanic lady that was selling it REALLY wanted Cindy to buy it (they had an instant Latina bond).  We left it there, but we happened to come back by there on our way home and I talked her into stopping.  That lady was thrilled that Cindy came back to get it.  We will use it in the new house as a sink in the downstairs bathroom (someday).

We also purchased (after thinking about it for a while and going back):  THE PURPLE CHAIR!  It is really comfortable and eventually we'd like to put it in our room as a reading chair.  We bought it in honor of Elena as a tribute to her time at Kansas State.

Last evening we went to Cheddars to eat (too many crying, yelling kids - but the food was good), then we went to see Get Him to the Greek.  We both laughed way more than we should have (Cindy say's it is a raunchy and crude show), but we were entertained so, a good night.

We got up and went for a walk with Jefe this morning and found some great trails that we didn't know were there.  We came home and got ready for church.  We went to St. Patrick's (mass was a little long ~ 1 hour and 10 minutes).

We are home now and just got done having lunch (Cindy made some eggs with fried potatoes and cheese - good thing we went on that walk before church).

Now we are putting off cleaning the house by watching Cast Away for the hundredth time (we still love the part where he makes FIRE!).

No fire making for me today (well maybe later, on the grill).  Now I have to go do the manly dishes...

Sigh...

Shocker Fitness

We've let this blog sort of go dormant for a while but I'm going to try and keep it updated (we'll see). I've also opened it up to the public so that you don't have to sign in to view it.

Cindy and I have been going to Shocker Fitness since the middle of March (we are in week 6). We go on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. It is wearing us out but we both feel better and I've lost about 8 lbs. We paid for 10 weeks and we plan on signing up for another 10 weeks when this session is done.

Work has been a little strange as we are going through outsourcing. Most of my co-workers are either still with Spirit or are working for the vendor that we outsourced the work to. It is an adjustment but we are working through it.

One of the young guys from India (Durgesh) has befriended me. He invited me to go to lunch with his other buddies from India. We are going to eat Indian food. Should be quite the culinary adventure...

Our social calendar is full this weekend. Friday night we are going to Jeff Schneider's going away party. He is my best "work friend". He got called up to go to Iraq for a year (he is a lt. colonel, so he will not see any real action). On Saturday, we go to Newton for Chloe's birthday and on Sunday we are meeting all the McVicar's at TGI Friday's to celebrate Mom and Dad's 61st anniversary.

Between all that, Shocker Fitness and getting settled in the new house, we are staying very busy. I guess that is good.
